Q. What is Bespoke?
A bespoke dress is individually designed to your taste and is made perfectly to fit your body shape, resulting in maximum confidence on your special day. Here at Mojgan Bridal Couture we can offer you a fully bespoke, made to measure dress service using different couture techniques.
Q. What shall I expect?
Book an appointment with our Designer Mojgan Noorian-Bellamy and her team of fully trained Design Assistants to talk through the dress of your dreams. With more than 20 years of experience designing and dressing beautiful brides and celebrities Mojgan and her expert team will create a unique dress for you. At her studio Mojgan has a stunning collection of silks, satins and antique laces which will give you inspiration during the design process which continues throughout the numerous fittings necessary to create a truly bespoke dress, leaving you inspired and confident.
Q. How long does the process take?
From measurements we will give you a deadline to get to your target size, in the meantime we will order your fabrics and make a pattern ready. The deadline given will be for your toile fitting (or calico fitting) which is the shape of your chosen design made up in a different fabric. The purpose of this is so we can check the fit and ensure that everything is in proportion before we transfer the pattern to your main fabric.
This is then followed to your first fitting which includes the gown made up completely, we look for any extra fittings needed before we start adding any trims or details depending on the design. Accessories such as veils, headpieces and jewellery are usually chosen at this point to see how they complement the dress. We encourage all our clients to fully take part in creating their dress and will listen to and rectify any concerns or ideas you may have during this beautiful journey together.
We will give as many fittings as necessary up to the day you pick up; we never let a gown go until we are 100% happy with it.
Q. How long shall I give till I order a bespoke gown?
We typically ask for a year, however we understand this is not always possible and have managed to create stunning bespoke gowns with a month notice. Ideally of course we request that we are given as much time as possible. We always say to avoid disappointment not to leave ordering too long after a first initial meeting, for example in the rare case of chosen fabrics being discontinued.
Q. How much will this cost?
Costing really varies on the design and materials used, our average gowns can start from £1,500 but we have created gowns ranging from £800 to £5,000 – £10,000. We request that you give us an estimate of how much you would like to spend and we will guide you to suitable dresses and materials around your budget. We try our best to keep our gowns as affordable as possible as we feel everyone should have the chance to own a couture gown and feel incredible on their special day.
Q. Who have you designed for?
Mojgan is delighted to design for all and everyone, and her dresses have been worn and seen in both the private and public eye, from the aisle to red carpet. Indeed she was commissioned to design and create a stunning and elegant outfit for Helen Hasking, Godmother to Pippa Middleton, to be worn at Westminster Abbey. From this Mojgan was chosen to give a speech as one of the most successful designer for Prince’s Trust at Westminster Abbey with members of the Royal Family present.
